About MOMG

In January 1984, five companies involved in the production of basic oleochemicals; known as the “M5” came together to establish the Malaysian Oleochemical Manufacturers Group (MOMG); to promote the interests of the oleochemical industry in Malaysia. The founding members were Acidchem, Henkel Oleochemicals Malaysia, Malaysian Oleochemical Industry, Unichema Malaysia and Southern Acids.

Today, it comprises 10 members and they are producers of basic oleochemicals, namely fatty acids, methyl esters, fatty alcohols and glycerine. The industry comprised of manufacturers, that are either wholly-owned by local plantation companies or joint-ventures with multinationals.

The Group works closely with the Malaysian Government in an advisory capacity, to keep them abreast on the latest trends and developments of the global oleochemical industry. They are also represented in the various Government and Standard Committees by MPI, MPOB, MIDA, MPOCC, Standards Malaysia etc. and maintain a seat in the Malaysian Palm Oil Board.
